I know this is a car website but anyone fly fishers out there?
Just going to be some pictures, videos, reviews, a lot like Oppo I think.
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

I fish, but not fly fishing.

My grandfather was a huge fly-fisherman, so the only fishing I've ever done was with flies.
It's been a few years, though... really, I just did it to spend time with him.

I could maybe widen my scope to include more people. I know fly fishing is kind of niche, even within the fishing community.

Youre right, the Greenback's spots are much larger towards the tail fin:

Small perch, large sun fish, bull heads, rock bass. Pretty common stuff.

No fly fishing here, just recreational catch and release with a normal fishing rod.
I don't enjoy fish as a food, so I don't have any reason to keep the fish.
I don't get out often anymore as well, it's been a couple years since I have. I go for anything that bites in the local lakes here though. Large Mouth Bass, Sunnies, etc. I tend to go early or later in the season just to avoid all the other people. I used to get an hour or so in after work when there was light, mostly just staring at the float in the water bobbing up and down. It's not about the fish for me, just peaceful time away from the world. If I never catch a single fish, I don't feel discouraged at all.

I'd love to fish, and I have in the past. But Im allergic to freshwater fish and Fish that live in brackish water like salmon. So I cant really enjoy it, because I cant eat what I catch. It is alot of fun though

These ones are really starting to mix with the rainbows in the winter so there are becoming more and more cutbows in the rivers.

And that is exactly why I fish. Getting a big ol' bulltrout is nice though.

There is nothing like a roll cast to a huge shadow on the South Holston with a 4wt rod and and hooking up into a 20in+ rainbow on a dry blue wing olive.

4wt. Pretty risky going after a fish like that.
I like your style.

I never bait my hook because I don't want the fish to interfere with my beer drinking trips.

I fly fish the Albuquerque Rio Grande drains for stocked Trout. Best time is early a.m. Don't go as often as I would like, but it is a better experience since they doubled the cost for a license.

I'm all about small tackle. I love the equality of it.
Besides, anything longer than a 7' rod is just banging squirrels out of trees in 90% of the places I fish when I'm back in NC/TN/VA.

True story:
I went to college at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. I lived out of town on Old Hwy 60 (in a house that no longer exists) near a tributary to New river.
We were broke-assed college students. We were hungry. Seeing the river, with all the trout swimming up and down, I decided to catch them for food.
Easier said than done.
Of course, the locals said the way to catch them was corn/salmon eggs/wolley buggers/snag 'em/cornbread dough/crickets/ etc. Nothing worked.
All I got was blind drunk off Watauga County Spring Water sitting along the Padgett farm river bank.
Until I got a fly rod.
And a caddis fly. And a sluphur nymph.
Bounty.
I remember taking those fish back to the house and cooking them on our wood stove with nothing more than lemon and butter, and thinking I had gone to heaven.
From then on, we ate trout at leisure, any time we wanted, cooked on our wood stove.

Thats an awesome story, not since the time of pioneers have people relied on fish as much as you college students did!

When I was in HS I had a fly-tying kit. Don't think I ever actually used a fly I tied though.
In fact I've only ever been on one guided trip, a few years ago with my grandpa. One of my favorite memories. I loved fly fishing but we've always been bait casters.
